2024 Substate basketball continues tonight

The 2024 Substate basketball tournaments continue tonight with, in Class 3A and Class 1A, boys’ semifinal games. Four area boys’ teams are still playing, Burlington, Hartford, Lebo and Waverly. Girls’ semifinal games will follow tomorrow evening. Four area girls’ teams, Hartford, Lebo, Southern Coffey County and Waverly, are still playing.
Tonight, In the Class 3A Substate tournament hosted by Southeast of Saline High School and held at Gyspum, the Burlington Wildcats will take on Pioneer League rival Santa Fe Trail Frontenac in the first semifinal game of the evening, at 6 p.m. Playing in the second semifinal game at 6 p.m. are Hesston and Southeast of Saline. In the Class 1A Division II Substate tournament being hosted by and held at Lebo, the Lebo Wolves will take on the Hartford Jaguars in the second semifinal game of the evening, with a tip-off time of 7:30 p.m. Playing in the first semifinal game, tipping at 6 p.m., will be McPherson-Elyria Christian and Hutchinson-Central Christian. In the Class 1A Division II Substate tournament being hosted by and held at St. Paul, the Waverly Bulldogs will take on Moran-Marmaton Valley in the first semifinal game of the evening, with a tip-off time of 6 p.m. Playing in the second semifinal game, tipping at 6 p.m., will be Buffalo-Altoona Midway and St. Paul. Tomorrow evening, in the Class 3A Substate tournament at Gypsum, Hesston, who defeated the Burlington Ladycats in the quarterfinal round, will play Lindsborg-Smoky Valley in the second semifinal game of the evening, tipping off at 7:30 p.m. Playing in the first semifinal game, set to begin at 7:30 p.m., will be Halstead and Osage City.
In the Class 1A Division II Substate tournament being hosted by and held at Lebo, the Lebo Lady Wolves will take on the Hartford Lady Jaguars in the second semifinal game of the evening, with a tip-off time of 7:30 p.m. Playing in the first semifinal game, tipping at 6 p.m., will be McPherson-Elyria Christian and Hutchinson-Central Christian. In the Class 1A Division II Substate tournament being hosted by and held at St. Paul, the Southern Coffey County Lady Titans will take on Melvern-Marais des Cygnes Valley in the first semifinal game of the evening, with a tip-off time of 6 p.m. In the second semifinal game, tipping at 7:30 p.m., the Waverly Lady Bulldogs will take on host team St. Paul. Teams winning semifinal games will advance to championship games on Saturday, March 2. At Gypsum, Lebo and St. Paul, the boys’ championship game will tip off at 5 p.m., and the girls’ championship game will follow at 6:30 p.m.
